Bhubaneswar: A young girl survived an abduction bid early on Monday, raising serious questions on law and order situation in the city.
The incident occurred at Acharya Vihar, barely 500 metres away from Saheed Nagar police station, and was captured in a CCTV camera installed outside the hostel, where the girl was standing and waiting for someone to open the main door after arriving from Rayagada.
According to reports, an unidentified man on a motorcycle with his helmet on approached the girl and put a knife to her neck. “I screamed out of fear and he fled after pushing me. I also saw a car with three to four youths following close behind. They could be part of the abduction plan,” the girl said.
She later lodged a complaint in this regard at Saheed Nagar police station.
Police have seized the CCTV footage and investigating the case.
