Girl Student Of Polytechnic College Found Hanging In Odisha’s Jajpur; Kin Allege Ragging

Jajpur: A girl student of Government Polytechnic at Ragadi in Odisha’s Jajpur district was found hanging in her hostel room on Tuesday.

The deceased student has been identified as Rosalin Patra (18) of Sendhapur under Jenapur police limits. She was a 3rd year students and staying at Biraja women’s hostel of the institute, sources said.

Principal Rajendra Patra said that Rosalin’s friends found her hanging from a ceiling fan in her room this morning. He added that she was a good student.

Meanwhile, police have seized the body. Though the reason behind her death is yet to be ascertained, prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide. Her family members alleged that she was subjected to constant ragging and that could have prompted her to take the extreme step. They blamed a hostel warden for the incident.

Jajpur SDPO Sanjay Kumar Patnaik and Korei IIC Sanghamitra Mallick are conducting investigation from all angles, sources added.
