Girl Students Meet Malkangiri Collector For Redressal Of Grievances
Malkangiri: Fifty girl students of a Balimela High School in Malkangiri on Monday walked nearly 10 km to reach the Malkangiri District Collector’s office to put forth their grievances.
According to sources, the students alleged that they have been facing a lot of inconvenience in the school. Two students fell ill on the way and were rushed to the nearby hospital.
On being informed, police reached the spot and dropped the students at the Collector’s office in their vehicle.
Earlier on Sunday, 15 girl students of a high school in Morada block of Baripada in Mayurbhanj district walked 45km to reach the Collector’s office for the redressal of their grievances but were stopped by the police after they had walked just 5km.
The students had wanted to complain about verbal abuse by the school staff and other difficulties they were facing.
