Bhubaneswar: A young girl allegedly decamped with an iPhone worth Rs 1.4 lakh from a store in the busy Bapuji Nagar area of the capital city.
The incident occurred on Monday and police swung into action after the shopkeeper lodged a complaint in this regard.
According to the shopkeeper, a girl in her early 20s reached the store and asked for high-end smart phones. She chose an iPhone worth Rs 1.4 lakh and as the shop did not have it, they sourced it from another distributor and the bill was finalised.
The girl reportedly claimed that her ATM was not functioning and requested an employee of the store to accompany her to her home in a car. On the way she asked the employee to get some petrol from a filling station and soon after he got down the car, she fled, the employee who accompanied her stated.
The owner of the store later lodged a formal police complaint after an employee of the shop spotted the car near an apartment in the city.
Police has detained the girl for further interrogation.
