Berhampur: BJP leaders on Saturday gheraoed the K Nuagaon police station in Digapahandi block of Ganjam district for a few hours demanding Crime Branch inquiry into the alleged murder of Pramodini Nayak of Deokhali village five months back.
The leaders sat on a dharna in front of the police station gate after submitting their memorandum to the authorities. They withdrew the gherao and dharna after SDPO, Chikiti, Surendra Nath Murmu assured them of arresting the accused soon.
Pramodini, an educated girl, was killed on May 10. When she had gone to the paddy field with her mother on the day, she went to the river nearby alone and did not return. Later, her body was found near the river bank.
The police have registered a case on the basis of the complaint of her family members, but are yet to trace the alleged killers.
