Manmad: A group of passengers was in for a shock on Thursday.
Despite reaching their boarding station well before their train was scheduled to arrive, they discovered that the Delhi-bound Goa Express had already left!
The Vasco da Gama-Hazrat Nizamuddin Goa Express reached Manmad junction, in Maharashtra, at 9.05 – a full 90 minutes ahead of its scheduled arrival time of 10.35 am by taking a diverted route, PTI quoted a Railway official as saying. But the train left Manmad within five minutes, leaving 45 passengers in the lurch.
The affected passengers complained to the station manager, demanding alternate arrangements be made for their journey.
Railways informed that the train was diverted via Roha-Kalyan-Nashik Road route instead of its regular Belgami-Miraj-Daund route.
To address the issue, the Gitanjali Express was given an unscheduled halt at Manmad, and the fuming passengers were asked to board it and travel to Jalgaon, where the Goa Express was detained till their arrival, Central Railway’s CPRO Dr Shivraj Manaspure informed.
Once the Gitanjali reached Jalgaon, the 45 passengers were shifted to the waiting Goa Express.
