Gobinda Shau Suicide: Crime Branch Recreates Scene In Kantabanji Jail Of Odisha’s Balangir
Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch team of Odisha Police, accompanied by a scientific team from State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL), Bhubaneswar on Friday re-visited the spot at sub-jail Kantabanji where Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in Mamita Maher murder case, committed suicide.
The team, which had visited the spot on Wednesday, went there again to minutely check the spot for evidence. As part of the investigation to understand the incident and its sequence, the CB team re-created the scene with the help of a person who is approximately of same age and weight of Gobinda. A similar wooden log and ‘gamucha’ (towel) were used in the exercise.
The Crime Branch team also seized DVDs containing photographs and videos of inquest and post-mortem of deceased Gobinda from the scientific officer, DFSL, Balangir along with the certificate. It also examined the inmates of the jail to get more information on the incident.
The Crime Branch team along with scientific team of the SFSL has been camping at Kantabanji and proceeding with the investigation since Tuesday. AN Sinha, IGP, CID-Crime Branch is monitoring the inquiry.
Gobinda was found hanging inside the jail premises ahead of his scheduled production in a local court on Tuesday. Jail authorities rushed him to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
As the incident triggered a controversy, Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Kumar Bansal ordered a Crime Branch probe into the alleged suicide.
