Bhubaneswar: Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) has signed an MoU with NIT Rourkela to institute a Gold Medal in the memory of its founder Dr Bansidhar Panda, who passed away in 2018.
It will be awarded every year to the topper in the B.Tech stream of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, starting with the batch of 2019.
The MoU was signed on November 14 in Rourkela between IMFA Vice President & Head (Corporate Affairs and Legal) Ashok Behera and Registrar, NIT Rourkela, Prof Paradip Kumar Das in the presence of Director, NIT Rourkela, Prof Animesh Biswas and other dignitaries.
Managing Director Subhrakant Panda said: “I hope this award inspires not just the recipients but all metallurgy graduates to strive harder. There is nothing that would have pleased Dr Panda more than to see young men & women make a name for themselves in his chosen field.”
