Lucknow: Customs officials at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSI) recovered around 4 kg of gold worth Rs 2.55 crore from two incoming passengers here on Sunday.
Two cases were lodged by officers of CCSI Airport, within Lucknow Customs (P) Commissionerate, reported ANI.
As per the first case, gold weighing 3.497 kg was concealed in a coffee machine. The passenger was intercepted on suspicion during scanning. The product was found to be abnormally heavy, and broken. Two gold cylindrical bars were discovered inside after cutting the welded part with tools.
The passenger travelled from Dubai by Air India Express IX 194 flight.
In the other case, 554 grams of gold was recovered from the rectum of another passenger who arrived from Sharjah via Indigo flight 6E1424. The arrest was based on inputs and suspicion raised during a routine search.
