Mumbai: Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine As Light’ has made waves in India and abroad.
On Monday, the film scripted some more history by securing two prestigious nominations for the Golden Globes 2025.
The film has been nominated for Best Non-English Language Motion Picture, while director Payal has been nominated for Best Director (Motion Picture).
Payal’s competitors in the Best Director (Motion Picture) category are — Jacques Audiard for the French film ‘Emilia Pérez’, Sean Baker for ‘Anora’, Edward Berger for ‘Conclave’, Brady Corbet for ‘The Brutalist’ and Coralie Fargeat for ‘The Substance’.
‘All We Imagine As Light’ will compete with ‘Emilia Perez’, ‘The Girl With the Needle’, ‘I’m Still Here’, ‘The Seed of the Sacred Fig’ and ‘Vermiglio’ for the Best Non-English Language Motion Picture award.
The nominations for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, announced on Monday by Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut, saw ‘Emilia Perez’ receiving the most number nominations.
‘All We Imagine As Light’, which was released in theatres in India on November 22, became the first Indian film to win the prestigious Grand Prix at Cannes 2024.
It also received the Jury Grand Prize at Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Best International Feature at Gotham Awards and Best International Film Award at the New York Film Critics Circle, among several accolades.
The Golden Globe Awards 2025 will be held at Los Angeles on January 5 (US time). The awards will be streamed live in India exclusively on Lionsgate Play, starting at 6.30 am IST (January 6).
