Golden Moments At Asian Games: 2 Spectacular Come-From-Behind Wins For India In Squash & Tennis
New Delhi: India created history on Day 7 of the ongoing Asian Games 2003 on Saturday by defeating Pakistan in the men’s team squash final. This is India’s 10th gold medal in this edition and second-ever squash gold at the Asian Games.
Trailing 0-1 after losing the first match, the Indian men’s squash team – Saurav Ghoshal, Abhay Singh, and Mahesh Mangaonkar – made a stunning comeback to win the game 3-2.
Earlier in the day, Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale won gold in the mixed doubles tennis final with 2-6 6-3 10-4 win over Chinese Taipei, while Sarabjot Singh and Divya TS settled for a silver medal following a narrow defeat against China in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.

Meanwhile, Indian golfer Aditi Ashok finished on top in Round 3 of the Women’s Golf event with an overall score of 22 under par, positioning herself in a commanding position to secure a historic individual gold medal. Preeti Pawar and olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain also assured India of medals by entering the semifinals of their respective boxing categories.
In athletics, Murali Sreeshankar has qualified for the men’s long jump final and Jyothi Yarraji and Nithya Ramraj have cemented their places in the women’s 100m hurdles final. Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has also expressed his confidence to put up a good show on his upcoming final match on October 4.
