Bhubaneswar: After a long time, Google has finally launched launched a new Pixel smartphone – Pixel 4a in India.
It is priced at a special launch price of Rs 29,999 and will be increased to Rs 31,999 after the festive season.
The phone will be available during Flipkart’s Big Billion Day Specials sale starting on October 16.
Google Pixel 4a comes in only one variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It features a 5.81-inch full-HD+ OLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset, 3,140mAh battery with an 18W charger.
Camera-wise, there’s a single 12.2-MP f/1.7 dual pixel phase detection with OIS and EIS at the rear. On the front, there is an 8-MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 84-degree field of view.
The phone has an Always-On Display and Now Playing features for the lock screen. There’s no wireless charging support.
How Does It Stack Up Against Competition?
Specs-wise, the Google Pixel 4a lags behind the competition. But the previous model had an outstanding camera despite being a single-lens one. The OnePlus Nord will be its major competitor and it has a bigger screen, storage, RAM and battery along with faster charging. The battery at 3,140mAh is a tad small. The Samsung M51, for example, comes with a battery almost twice the size at 7,000mAh. It is important to note that a bigger number always doesn’t indicate how efficient the phone is. Hence, a thorough test will reveal if the Google Pixel 4a is better than it looks on paper or not.
