Goons attack women over anti-liquor protest in Kendrapada

Kendrapada: Goons on Sunday allegedly attacked a group of women, who ransacked a liquor manufacturing unit at Olaver near Rajkanika in Kendrapada district.
Four women sustained serious injuries in the attack and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to police sources, the miscreants threw chilli powder on the women and thrashed them with sticks after they ransacked the liquor brewing unit and destroyed bottles of liquor stored in it. Further investigation is on, the sources added.
“We have been requesting the district administration to shift the shop from the locality for quite some time. When no one paid any heed to our demand, we decided to take matters into our own hands. This is a residential area. Owing to the presence of this liquor unit, crime and violence has increased in the locality,” an agitator alleged.
