New Delhi: The central government has asked the farmers to select a date for the next round of discussion between the two parties.
Joint secretary in the Agriculture Ministry Vivek Agrawal, via a letter to farmers’ unions, urged them for a dialogue to resolve the impasse. According to Agrawal, the government is trying its best to find an appropriate solution to resolve the issues raised by the farmers with an open mind.
The joint secretary said that the government wants to convene the next meeting at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital for resolving the impasse. The government also held meetings with other farmers’ organisations to seek their opinions on the matter.
The sixth round talks between the two warring sides fell through after farmers’ leaders refused to accept the government’s draft proposal for amendment of certain provisions of the farm laws.
