Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the intense heatwave condition prevailing across Odisha for the last one week, the state Odisha government on Wednesday issued advisory asking labourers to refrain from outdoor work during afternoon, informed Labour Minister Sushant Singh.
“The labourers have been restricted from working outdoors between 11 am and 3 pm to prevent cases of sunstroke,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, the regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here issued heat wave alert for 13 districts of the state. The districts likely to be affected are Bhadrak, Balasore, Sonepur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Nayagarh, Balangir and Boudh districts.
The Met has also predicted that similar weather conditions are likely to prevail in the state for the next 24 hours.
However, rainfall is likely to occur over Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Koraput districts and one or two places in northern parts of the state in the next 24 hours, the weatherman stated.
