New Delhi: The government is inclined to hold Class 12 board exams, but yet to finalise the format, sources said after a high-level meeting on Sunday.
The decision to go ahead with the Class 12 board exams was stressed at a meeting between Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank with all the states and UT education ministers, secretaries and chairpersons of state examination boards as well as other stakeholders. The meeting was held to discuss the conduct of Class 12 board and entrance examinations for professional courses amidst the pandemic.
The Class 12th board exams of the Central Board of Secondary Education, the only school board directly under central government, will likely be held in a short format type. However, the CBSE Class 12 board exam dates are yet to be finalised.
State boards have been left to take a call on whether to conduct the board exams based on the local conditions, NDTV reported.
Notably, CBSE, CISCE and many state boards have postponed Class 12 examinations due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. Entrance examinations like JEE and NEET have also been deferred.
