Bhubaneswar: The state government on Wednesday issued a show-cause notice to the DAV School, Chandrasekharpur in the city for violating the guidelines on reopening the schools.
In a letter to the principal of the school, the Directorate of Secondary Education stated that the Special Releif Commissioner (SRC), while issuing the order to reopen the schools, had released detailed guidelines for the educational institutions.
As per the SRC order, the students will have the option to appear at the examinations through offline or online or hybrid modes. Subsequently, the School and Mass Education Department had also reiterated the same conditions regarding the examinations for reopening of the schools.
But it has come to the notice that the DAV School has issued a notice to students and parents regarding conducting periodic assessment on offline mode from February 12.
The order said due to suspension of offline classes for a long time, the students may socio-emotional issues and also lack the preparedness to face the offline examinations immediately after reopening of the schools.
“This action on your part violate the instructions contained in the government orders. Hence, you are called upon to explain why action deemed proper will not be initiated against your school for violation of government instructions,” the letter said.
The directorate has given the school principal 24 hours’ time to reply to the letter. “Your reply must reach the Directorate by February 10,” the letter said.
