Bhubaneswar: Taking a strong exception to the negligence of BJB College in Bhubaneswar in taking steps for extension of autonomous status and renewal of NAAC accreditation, Odisha government has sought an explanation.
In a letter to Principal of the BJB College on Friday, the Higher Education department stated that though the autonomous status of the college has expired since December 31, 2022, it has failed to follow the official procedures for its renewal till date.
In case of renewing the accreditation of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) also, the college has not taken any steps so far despite the Council’s communication and repeated reminders, the letter stated. Besides, the college has not submitted a fresh proposal for reconstitution of its governing body to the department, it added.
The department sought to know the reason behind the college’s inaction on the issues. Directing the college authorities to submit an explanation, it said necessary action would be taken against them if they failed to do so.
