Berhampur: A Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) was allegedly murdered by an unidentified miscreant in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Friday.
As per reports, the victim, identified as Sukant Kumar Panigrahi, GRS in A Karadabadi and Sankuru panchayats, was going on his bike from his village Kalamba to Buguda in the morning when the miscreant asked for a lift.
After Sukant stopped the bike, the miscreant stabbed him with a knife. The incident took place on Antarpada road under Balipadar police limits.
As Sukant fell down sustaining critical injuries and started bleeding heavily, the locals rushed him to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Buguda. Later, he was shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. But he succumbed to injuries on the way.
On being informed, a police team went to the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem. They have also started investigation and launched a manhunt to trace the accused.
