Berhampur: Sibaram Das, ASI of Bhanjanagar’s Tarasing Police Station, who succumbed to COVID-19 infection, was given guard of honour as a mark of respect on Tuesday.
Ganjam SP Brijesh Roy along with other senior officials paid tributes to Das before his body being shifted to Berhampur for cremation.
Last week COVID-19 tests were conducted on all staff of Tarasing PS of whom eight were found positive. All positive staff were shifted to Bhanjanagar Covid care centre where Das died on Monday night.
A total of four cops (two ASIs, one constable and a home guard) have succumbed to COVID-19 infection in the district so far.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 claimed six more lives in Ganjan on Monday. All deceased — four males and two females — were diabetic and had hypertension.
