New Delhi: A 23-year-old nursing student died following sex with her boyfriend in Gujarat’s Navsari district on September 23, an official statement said on Tuesday. According to officials, the incident took place at a hotel, where the girl began bleeding after having sex. She died due to haemorrhagic shock. The officials added that her boyfriend spent 90 minutes searching for remedies online instead of calling an ambulance.
The woman had experienced vaginal tears that caused severe bleeding, according to the forensic report. Police said that the 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, as well as destruction of evidence. According to authorities, the delay in seeking medical assistance was a major factor in her death. The accused reportedly tried to continue the sexual encounter, despite the woman’s serious condition.
The man allegedly attempted to use a cloth to stem the bleeding, but it was ineffective, and the woman fainted. After failing to find a solution, he called a friend to the hotel and took her to a private hospital, which then referred them to the Civil Hospital.
The woman was declared dead even before her parents reached the hospital. “The forensic report stated she died due to excessive bleeding. Instead of calling 108 or medical assistance, he contacted his friends and transferred her to a private vehicle after waiting for them. Had she received emergency medical aid with IV fluids, blood, and medicines, she would have survived,” police said.
According to police, the couple met on a social media platform around seven months ago.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, an official said.
