Bhubaneswar: The southern film industry’s most popular female star and style icon Samantha Ruth Prabhu turned 35 today and was cheered by millions of fans from around the globe. The actress, always known for her spunky decisions revolving around her professional and personal life, went through rough waters last year when she divorced her long-time partner, actor Naga Chaitanya. In her filmography spanning more than a decade, she has acted in 49 movies and is a recipient of numerous accolades including four Filmfare Awards South, six South Indian International Movie Awards and two Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Awards.

She is known by another name
Samantha’s family and her most close friends identify her by the name Yashoda. Her name “Samantha” was probably taken up after she joined the film industry. Interestingly her upcoming movie is also titled “YASHODA”.
Expensive gift to her ex-husband
Samantha, who owns several luxury items including her Rs 1 lakh worth heels and Rs 1.4 lakh worth sling purse, once gifted Italian-made sports bike MV Agusta (Meccanica Verghera Agusta), which is worth Rs 27 lakh, to her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya before their big fat wedding.
Foray into the film industry
Samantha was financially unstable in her early 20s and did many odd jobs to grab her first break in the movie industry. Acclaimed cinematographer MR Ravi Kumar spotted her talent and gave her opportunity in the debut movie Moscow in Kauvery.
