Harassment Case: Odisha Cops Leave For Kolkata To Question Singer Sourin Bhatt
Bhubaneswar: A team of Twin City Commissionerate Police left for Kolkata on Wednesday to investigate the harassment allegations against singer Sourin Bhatt.
A woman had approached Mahila police alleging that Bhatt exploited her on false promise of giving her a break in singing.
According to sources, the team was sent to Kolkata as the popular playback singer did not depose before the Mahila Police in Cuttack. “We tried to contact Bhatt but his phone was found switched off. Our officials have already visited his rented house in CDA area of Cuttack and served a notice on the landlord,” said an officer.
The cops are likely to question the singer in connection with the allegations levelled against him.
The woman has also accused the singer of false promises of marriage, cheating, torture and exploitation. The vocalist also extorted Rs 10 lakh from her, she alleged.
While a case has been registered under Sections 376 (sexual assault), 493 (cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage), 341 (wrongfully restrains), 294 (obscene acts and songs), 417 (cheating) and 506 (threat to cause death or grievous hurt), the statements of the complainant has also been recorded under Section 161 of the CrPC.
