Chandigarh: Acknowledging the selfless service being provided by the media, Haryana Chief Minister Manohal Lal Khattar on Thursday announced an insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh each to all journalists who are reporting in Haryana during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It comes at a time when scores of mediapersons have tested positive for novel coronavirus while performing their duty during the nationwide lockdown.
In Delhi, mediapersons are being testing for coronavirus from Wednesday at a dedicated COVID-19 centre following Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement to this effect.
Mamata Banerjee was among the first chief ministers to announce insurance coverage for all government doctors, nurses, health workers, pharmacists, cleaning staff, ASHA workers, police personnel and anyone who has been helping the West Bengal government to curtail the pandemic.
She first announced a coverage of Rs 5 lakh each three weeks ago, before increasing the insurance to Rs 10 lakh.
