Kolkata: While releasing the manifesto for Bengal Assembly elections scheduled on April 23 and 29, Union Home Minister and BJP leader, Amit Shah, asked people that whether having uniform laws in the country for every citizen can be seen as appeasement?
“People of all religions are citizens of India… Is it appeasement to have uniform laws for every Indian citizen, or is it appeasement when one citizen is permitted to marry four times while another can get married once?… wherever the BJP is in power, the UCC will undoubtedly be implemented,” he said in Kolkata on Friday.
Shah accused the Trinamool Congress of securing its second term in 2016 on false promises. He claimed that the TMC returned to power in 2021 through corruption. He also alleged that the party operated in nexus with infiltrators.
Releasing the manifesto, Shah said it was the roadmap to develop ‘Sonar Bangla.’
Here’s what’s the BJP manifesto states:
- It promises a hardline stand on infiltration.
- Vows Rs 3,000 monthly assistance for every woman and unemployed youth
- Proposes setting up of the Seventh Pay Commission for State employees within 45 days of assuming power in the state
- Youths preparing for competitive examinations would receive Rs 15,000, the manifesto promises. This apart, five-year age relaxation will be given for candidates who he claimed were deprived of jobs due to corruption, if the BJP comes to power in Bengal.
- BJP government, if the party wins, would also push forward key central schemes such as PM Vishwakarma Yojana, PM KUSUM Yojana, PM Ujjwala Yojana, and Khelo India, focusing on welfare, skill development, clean energy, and sports promotion, according to the manifesto.
