Mahabubnagar (Telangana): A Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle ploughed into a car at 140 km per hour in the Mahabubnagar area of Telangana on Sunday night, killing three of its occupants, including two children. The two persons on the motorcycle were also killed in the crash.
The police claimed that the motorcycle rider was a participant of an illegal high-speed bike race on the Palakonda bypass road.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the biker lost control and smashed into the car at 140 km per hour. Such was the impact that the motorcycle broke into pieces.
Those killed in the car have been identified asArshiya Begum (30), Ujepa (7), and two-year-old Amar, as reported by NDTV.
The two on the motorcycle were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. While one of them has been identified as Yakub Afzal (25), the others details have not yet been revealed. It is not known who was riding the bike at the time of the incident.
The Hayabusa, priced at around Rs 17-18 lakh in India, is one of the first motorcycles to hit the 300 kmph mark. At one point, it was considered the fastest motorcycle in the world.
Irate locals claimed that the bypass has turned into a dangerous racing stretch at night, with groups of youngsters regularly performing bike stunts and speeding on sports bikes. They alleged that despite repeated complaints, strict action was not taken.
“Innocent lives would not have been lost had the authorities taken action. This has been going on for a long time and all our complaints fell on deaf ears,” a local said.
People have demanded strict police action before more innocent lives are lost due to such cheap thrills.
