Cuttack: The High Court (HC) on Thursday said that it cannot override the decision of the Odisha government to restrain devotees from ‘darshan’ by deities on the Snana Mandap (bathing altar) of the Jagannath temple during the Snana Jatra, to be held on Friday.
The court, while rejecting a petition, ruled that the state government has the right to take the decision in view of the outbreak of COVID-19.
The petitioner had urged the court to direct the state government to allow devotees darshan of deities.
