Mumbai: Vijay Deverakonda has faced criticism on social media after claiming that Rashmika Mandanna asked him to marry her “100 times”.
The actor’s remark has sparked debate online, with some netizens accusing him of embarrassing his wife by publicly sharing the detail.
Rashmika recently revealed that she repeatedly brought up the subject of marriage for nearly a year before the couple decided to tie the knot.
The couple opened up about their relationship in the trailer for the upcoming episode of Koffee With Karan 9, hosted by Karan Johar.
However, Vijay’s “100 times” remark has drawn flak from several social media users.
Reacting to the comment, one user wrote, “When he mentions that she asked him to marry her 100 times, it’s so sad. Does he even realise what he is saying when he opens his mouth? He’s basically saying he settled for her. I mean, it’s just terrible to announce it.”
Another user drew a comparison with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s appearance on the show, writing, “Why is this giving Ranveer and Deepika 3rd copy? Too similar a look to when they came on the last season.”
One netizen commented, “To be honest, Rashmika is far more successful in her career than V. Konda, and her asking him for an entire year makes this even worse.”
