Rayagada: Head-on collision between two motorcycles claimed three lives in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Monday night.
Two among the deceased have been identified as Akash Mandangi from Sundidhamuni panchayat under Ramanaguda block, and Birisingh Hikka of Burujuguda village from Kolnara block.
According to sources, the accident occurred on State Highway 36 near Durgi Jagannath temple at Bissam Cuttack while the motorcyclists were returning home after witnessing Doli Purnima jatra. While two among them died on the spot, locals rushed the other three injured to the Community Health Centre at Bissam Cuttack. Two were then shifted to district headquarters hospital in Rayagada late in the night as their condition deteriorated. One among them later succumbed during treatment. His identity is not known.
The other injured, identified as Bharat Hikkaka, is currently under treatment at the government health facility.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
