Chhatrapur: A primary health check-up centre was inaugurated by Vijay Amruta Kulange, Collector and District Magistrate, Ganjam.
The health check-up centre has been constructed by Gopalpur Port Limited’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing.
Capt Sandeep Agarwal, CEO, Gopalpur Port, and Dr Subash Chandra Sahu, Port Medical Officer, were present at the event at Takiria Berhampur.
Inaugurating the centre, Kulange said that it would benefit residents of the village as well as those in nearby hamlets.
“We are happy to contribute back to the community under our CSR platform. The health camp is our step and support towards creating a healthier society and lifestyle,” Agarwal said.
The healthcare services include free diagnosis and check-up, treatment, counselling, health, education and creating awareness. Besides, referral cases will get treatment at nearest government hospitals.
The centre will serve a population of about 10,000 families of nearby villages covering Kanamana, Matikhalo and Arjeepalli in Gopalpur Port’s peripheral area.
Among others, S Chakrapani Reddy, sarpanch, Kanapana panchayat, Rashmita Behera, nominee, and others were present at the inauguration ceremony.
Gopalpur Port has undertaken significant work under its CSR initiative. It has introduced an innovative water ATM concept where, for a token of Rs 50 paise per litre, RO-filtered water from Aqua Guard machines is dispensed to locals.
Streetlights have been installed on a 5-km road in Arjeepalli village. Last year, a boundary wall was built at the cremation ground in Bata Chhatrapur. An MoU has been signed for a vision care centre and local sports tournaments are routinely supported by Gopalpur Port.
At Arjeepalli UP School, renovation work such as repair of toilets, classrooms and school building was done as well as children play areas were provided.
