Health Minister to visit separated conjoined twins in New Delhi tomorrow
Bhubaneswar: Health Minister Pratap Jena will visit Kandhamal conjoined twins Jaga-Kalia, who underwent separation surgery at AIIMS New Delhi on October 25 and are currently under observation there, on Wednesday.
The Minister will also hold discussions with the doctors of the premier healthcare institution regarding the health condition and treatment of the twins, official sources said.
The AIIMS authorities, through a health bulletin, on Tuesday evening had informed that the twins were still in the ICU and their health condition was improving.
The two-year-and-five-month-old twins will have to be in the ICU for the next 7 to 10 days and a team of 25 doctors is keeping a close watch on the duo, it said.
“The babies are slowly improving and their breathing is also good. They are looked after by Neuroanaesthetists and Neurosurgeons. Pediatric Intensive Care specialists, Pediatric Cardiologists, Paediatric Neuro and Paediatric Nephrologists are constantly monitoring their improvement,” the bulletin further said.
Besides, Jaga is responding to some commands and is on dialysis to support his compromised kidney function, it added.
The authorities are hopeful that their condition will slowly improve over the next 10 to 15 days.
