Berhampur: Healthcare facilities in Odisha’s Ganjam district have bagged the highest number of Kayakalp Award, given by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, in the state.
Healthcare facilities in the district won 87 Kayakalp Awards, which were announced on Tuesday, the most by any district in the state.
Ganjam was followed by Kalahandi (63), Keonjhar (62), Cuttack (59) and Puri (49).
In all, 881 healthcare facilities of Odisha have won the award — 22 District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs), 173 sub-divisional and community health centres, 420 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 73 urban PHCs and community health centres and 193 sub-centres.
In Ganjam, the DHH (City Hospital), 18 community health centres/urban PHCs and 11 sub-centres are among the facilities that have won the award. This is the fourth year in a row that the City Hospital has received the award.
In Gajapati district, 26 healthcare facilities have won the award.
