New Delhi: A 56-year-old healthcare worker passed away in the early hours of Friday. She was administered a shot of COVID-19 vaccine Covishield last Saturday.
Her body has been sent for autopsy, and the cause of death is still unknown.
Rajwanti did not wake up in the morning and was declared brought dead at Medanta hospital.
She had not got any reaction to the vaccine on the day of being administered, authorities said.
“Only after the post-mortem report comes, the cause of Rajwanti’s death will be known. Till then it will not be right to say that Rajwanti died due to the vaccine,” Gurgaon’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Virendra Yadav told NDTV.
There have been a few hundred adverse reactions to the vaccination in India but authorities have not yet linked any death to it. Over 10 lakh people have given the first shot of vaccine in the country.
