Bhubaneswar: The intense heat wave continued to grip the interior districts of Odisha on Tuesday with Boudh turning the hottest place having a temperature of 43.1 degree Celsius.
The day temperature remained at 40 degree and above in 15 places in Bhubaneswar (41.7), Angul (42.7), Baripada (42.5), Jharsuguda (41), Sambalpur (41), Sundargarh (41), Hirakud (40.9), Talcher (42.3), Bhawanipatna (40.8), Balangir (42.4), Titlagarh (42.5), Malkangiri (40), Sonepur (41.8) and Nayagarh (41).
Besides, places where the temperature remained close to 40 degree Celsius are Chandbali (38.5), Cuttack (39), Keonjhar (38.6) and Phulbani (39).
As predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the day temperature in the coastal districts and some places in the north and western districts will come down by 2 degree Celsius as a north-south trough stretching from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim to south coastal Odisha will trigger thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind from April 28 to May 1.
