Bhubaneswar: The weatherman has predicted a heat wave in some 15 districts of the state for the next five days and issued a thunderstorm alert in five districts.
The Indian Meteorological Department’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar issued yellow and red warnings for Angul, Bhadrak, Balasore, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Puri, and Rayagada districts.
The Meteorological Centre, meanwhile, has issued a thunderstorm warning for Koraput, Gajapati, Rayagada, Ganjam, Nowrangpur and Kalahandi districts. Moderate thunderstorm and lightning are likely to lash these five districts. Light rainfall and gusty wind reaching speeds of 40kmph are also likely at one or two places in these districts. According to the weather update, the aforesaid weather condition is likely to prevail from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday.
