Bhubaneswar: While most parts of Odisha came under the grip of intense heat wave on Sunday, the state capital continued to emerge as the hottest place for the second consecutive day.
While the temperature in Bhubaneswar went up by 2 degree Celsius (43.2), 16 places that recorded 40 degree and above are Balasore (40.9), Cuttack (40.8), Angul (40.9), Baripada (42.4), Jharsuguda (41.8), Sambalpur (41.5), Sundargarh (41), Hirakud (40.3), Talcher (41.1), Titlagarh (42), Malkangiri (40), Sonepur (41), Nayagarh (41.5) and Boudh (42.5).
Apart from this, the day temperature remained close to 40 degrees Celsius in Chandbali (39.7), Keonjhar (38.4), Phulbani (39.4), Paralakhemundi (38.5) and Rayagada (38).
In an evening release, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the maximum day temperature will rise by 3-5 degree at a few places over the coastal districts during next 48 hours and 2-3 degree at many places in interior districts during next 2-3 days till April 27.
