Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued heat wave warning for three districts in Odisha.
The national weather agency, in a mid-day bulletin, stated that due to discontinuity of the wind from Telangana to South Odisha across south Chhattisgarh, there will be a sharp increase in the day temperature as hot wind from Central India continues to blow.
The change in wind direction will result in heat wave conditions at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Nayagarh and Khurda for two days on Saturday and Sunday, the bulletin said.
The bulletin further said due to the sudden rise in day temperature and presence of enough moisture in the lower atmosphere, there is a possibility of thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur on March 28 and Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak district on March 29.
