Bhubaneswar: Almost entire Odisha continued to sizzle under the heatwave with as many as 9 places in the state recording day temperature of 43 degree Celsius or more on Monday.
According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Baripada in Mayurbhanj was the hottest place in the state on the day recording maximum temperature of 44.2°C which was 6.1°C more than the temperature of Sunday.
Baripada was followed by Boudh and Nuapada with 43.5°C, Jharsuguda 43.4°C (3°C more), Talcher and Sambalpur 43.2, Titlagarh and Angul 43.1 and Balangir 43°C.
Similarly, Sundargarh, Bhawanipatna and Rourkela recorded maximum temperature of 42.8°C, 42.6°C and 42.2°C respectively during the day.
While Millennium City Cuttack reeled under 41.6°C, Bhubaneswar felt a little respite with maximum temperature of 39.9°C.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain or thunderstorm at one or two places in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha till 8.30 am tomorrow.
