Heatwave Continues In Western Odisha; 8 Places Register Temperature Of 43 Degree Celsius Or More
Bhubaneswar: Western Odisha witnessed no let-up in heatwave condition on Sunday when as many as 8 places in the region registered temperature of 43 degree Celsius or more.
According to evening bulletin of regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), maximum temperature crossed 40 degree Celsius in 13 places on the day.
The western Odisha town of Titlagarh was the hottest place in the state with 44.6 degree Celsius. It was followed by Sonepur with 44.5 degree Celsius, Balangir 44.3, Boudh 44.3, Nuapada 44, Sambalpur 43.7, Bhawanipatna 43 and Bargarh with 43 degree.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperature of 33.8 and 34 degree Celsius respectively.
The IMD issued yellow warning for heatwave in several districts of western Odisha for next 4 days. It forecast that heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places in Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur and Bargarh districts on Monday.
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Angul, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal districts, the forecast said.
