Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon is likely to arrive in Odisha in next 3-4 days, ahead of its usual date of June 12, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday.
“Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Karnataka, and some parts of south Maharashtra, Telangana & Coastal Andhra Pradesh, south Chhattisgarh and South Odisha, Westcentral and Northwest Bay of Bengal during next 3-4 days,” the weather agency said in its midday bulletin.
It further stated that heatwave is likely to persist in western districts of the state till June 6 while hot and humid conditions may prevail in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts till June 8. Several places in the state are also likely to experience thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph till June 8.
The day temperature is also likely to gradually rise by 2-3 degree Celsius during the next 2 days.
