The administration in Gaya has imposed Section 144 (prohibiting assembly of more than four people in an area) as severe heatwave has resulted in 184 people dying and several hospitalised across Aurangabad, Gaya and Nawada districts.
The cities of Gaya and Patna recorded temperatures above 45 degree Celsius on Saturday.
A compensation of Rs 4 lakh has been announced for the kin of the victims by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and the government of Bihar have cautioned people from venturing out in the sun.
