Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday warned of heatwaves in Odisha for three day from Thursday.
Yellow warning has been sounded for Sambalpur and Boudh districts on Thursday, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir and Kalahandi on Friday and Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Bargarh and Sundargarh on Saturday.
According to the midday bulletin, day and night temperatures may rise by 2-4°C during the next 3 days with no large change thereafter. Mercury may also touch 40°C in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during this period.
The weather agency has also forecast light rain or thundershower at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Bargarh on April 2.
On Wednesday, Boudh recorded the highest maximum temperature of 39.8°C followed by Jharsuguda (39.5°C), Hirakud (39.1), and Sambalpur and Balangir at 39°C each.
