Bhubaneswar: Heatwave may continue to scorch 10 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Wednesday.
The districts are Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhaj, and Nayagarh.
By 8.30 am, mercury level had already touched 36°C in Talcher. It was followed by Angul (35°C), Balasore (35°C), Bhubaneswar (34.2°C), Jagatsinghpur (34°C), Chandbali (33.8°C), Bhadrak (33.7°C), Bhawanipatna (33.5°C), and Jharsuguda (33.2°C).
With intense heatwave sweeping the state till April 27, the day temperature is also expected to rise by 4-6°C in the next 4-5 days.

Heatwave conditions have been prevailing in Odisha since April 15 and the state has already experience 11 heatwave days so far this month compared to five during the corresponding period last year.
On Tuesday, the mercury soared past 41°C at eight places in the state with Paralakhemundi recording the highest maximum temperature of 42.8°C. Nayagarh was close second at 42.2°C followed by Bhubaneswar and Balangir at 41.8°C each, Angul at 41.7°C, Malkangiri 41.5°C, and Baripada and Nuapada at 41.2°C each.
