Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has asked all collectors to remain alert in view of the heavy rain forecast by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for the next 3 days.
According to IMD Bhubaneswar, north, interior and coastal parts of the state will receive heavy rain till July 20 due to a low pressure area formed over NorthWest Bay of Bengal off North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal coast. The system is likely to further intensify into a depression. The proportion of rain will come down after Thursday.
In a letter, SRC and Secretary in the Disaster Management Department Bishnupati Sethi have asked all collectors to keep a close watch on the situation and take appropriate action. The collectors have been asked to ensure that rainfall measurement is taken on time. The data should be updated in the rainfall monitoring portal and intimated to State Emergency Office, he said.
