Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience rain and thunderstorm in next 48 hours.
According to the latest weather bulletin of the Regional Meteorological Centre here, rainfall and light thunderstorm accompanied by lightning are likely in some parts of Odisha.
Notably, southwest monsoon advanced into Odisha on Friday. It covered all coastal districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Gajpati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Nayagarh. It also covered Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj and parts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul and Keonjhar .
Conditions are becoming favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon into rest parts of Odisha during the next 48 hours.
Heavy to very heavy rain fall are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Angul, Deogarh, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and isolated heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Ganjam, Puri from 1 pm on Friday to 8.30 am on Saturday.
Likewise, heavy to very heavy rain fall are likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Nuapada, Sonepur, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Kalahandi and Kandhamal between 8.30 am on Saturday and 8.30 am on Sunday.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during next 48 hours.
