Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain, accompanied by hailstorms, lashed several parts of the state on Wednesday-Thursday night. The Similipal National Park was closed on Thursday for tourists due to rain.
The office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) issued an advisory for farmers on Wednesday following forecast of heavy rain and hailstorm in eight districts of the state.
The eight districts are Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
The Met centre has also issued yellow warning for dense fog in 15 districts — Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Daringbadi was the coldest place in the state on Thursday night, recording a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius. Other places that recorded minimum temperatures below 15 degrees were Phulbani (12), Keonjhar (14.2), Sonepur (12.6), Angul (13.6) and Titlagarh (12.8).
