Heavy Rain May Lash 10 Districts Of Odisha Today; IMD Issues Yellow Alert Till Sept 22

Bhubaneswar: The India Metrological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy rainfall in 10 districts of Odisha on Wednesday with the centre of well-marked Low Pressure area over central parts of north Madhya Pradesh an neighbourhood, Pendra Road, Puri, southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal.

Yellow warning of heavy rainfall has been sounded for isolated places in Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur and Bargarh districts. Light to moderate rain/thundershower may also occur at many places in North Odisha and at a few places in South Odisha.

Bhubaneswar may experience partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers, it added.

Notably, the state had witnessed a fall in rainfall activity on Tuesday, a day after recording 103% surplus showers.

Even as rain spells subside with no weather warning on September 19, the weather agency has warned of thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places in Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Bargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh on September 20.

Yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning continues for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar on September 21 and Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Jajpur on September 22.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at many places across the state during this period.
