Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain is likely to lash at least 14 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation in the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow warning of rain in different parts of the state for next five days.
It said a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal around Sunday. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form during subsequent 48 hours. The trough from the centre of cyclonic circulation over northeast Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood to south coastal Andhra Pradesh at 3.1 Km above mean sea level has become less marked.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over Odisha.
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur districts till Sunday morning, it said.
Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kalahandi and Kandhamal during the period.
Similarly, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts from Sunday to Monday.
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur and Boudh, the MeT Centre added.
