Heavy Rain To Lash Odisha For Another 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in Odisha  for another 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.

Talking to the media on Tuesday, duty officer of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Charan Behera said that the well-marked low-pressure area over the north-west Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood has moved further and now lies over the North Odisha and its adjoining areas and the west Bay of Bengal. Under its influence, most parts of the state have experienced heavy rainfall, he further said.

Stating that the rainfall activity will continue in the state for the next 24 hours, Behera said that the IMD has issued warning for  heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.

Meanwhile, the rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours was highest in Chandabli at 122.3 mm followed by Balangir (92.6), Phulbani (84.6), Bhubaneswar (70.8), Sonepur (70), Angul (60), Sambalpur (58.6), Puri (57.4), Cuttack (54.2), Balasore (50.9), Hirakud (50.2), Titlagarh (44.8), Keonjhar (34.3), Baripada (34.2), Paradip (32.5), Talcher (31), Jharsuguda (29.7), Bhawanipatna (26), Koraput (21.8), Sundargarh (15) and Malkangiri (15).
