Bhubaneswar: With the formation of another low pressure over the Bay of Bengal on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warning for Odisha in the next 24 hours.

“A low-pressure area has formed over the north-west Bay of Bengal off north Odisha and West Bengal coasts under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over north-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts. Apart from this, a monsoon trough from Jharkhand Madhya Pradesh now passes through the centre of the low-pressure area. Under its influence, the rainfall activity in Odisha will increase with heavy rainfall at most places and extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in the next 24 hours. The rainfall will continue for the next four days till August 16,” the IMD said in a mid-day bulletin.
